Festival d'ete de Quebec (FEQ) : complete guide

Lineup, tips and where to stay 15 minutes from the Plains

Ten days, over one million spectators, more than 250 artists spread across multiple stages. The Festival d'ete de Quebec (FEQ) is one of the largest music festivals in North America, and at roughly 150 dollars for the full pass, it's arguably the best value festival on the continent.

The FEQ in a nutshell

Every summer in early July, the Plains of Abraham transform into a massive amphitheatre that can host 90,000 spectators per night. The festival pass (around 150 dollars for 10 days) grants access to EVERY show, every night. The lineup is announced in March, with teasers starting in January, and consistently features top international headliners alongside Quebec's best emerging talent.

Practical tips

Arrive early : the pit fills up by 4 PM for headliners. Wear comfortable walking shoes since you'll cover a lot of ground. Stay hydrated (July in Quebec is hot and humid) and set a precise meeting point with your group before entering the site, because cellular networks get saturated with tens of thousands of people. Forget the car : downtown streets are closed and RTC buses offer expanded service during the festival.

Where to stay for the FEQ

Old Quebec fills up by January and prices triple or quadruple during the FEQ. Our recommendation : stay in Saint-Roch, the neighbouring district, a 15-minute walk from the Plains. Our Le Caiman condos are perfect base camp : real apartments with AC and kitchens, walking distance from every stage, and prices far more reasonable than Old Quebec even at peak season. Walk home after the show without waiting for a taxi.

After the show

Head to our partner bar Bar Le Sacrilege on Saint-Jean Street. Large indoor terrace, great microbrewery selection, open late. Mention you're staying at Le Caiman for a VIP welcome.
