By Mathieu Villeneuve, owner — August is my favourite month to recommend Quebec City: the summer festival crowds are gone, the terraces stay full, and the rooftop pool earns its keep. The advice I repeat most in August: measure your vehicle's height — our indoor garage is free, but capped at 6 ft 6 in.

| What works in August | Detail |
|---|---|
| After the summer festival | The Festival d'été ends July 19 — August is markedly calmer in town, without summer being over |
| New France Festival | August 6-9, 2026 in Old Quebec, in period costume — within walking distance of Le Caïman |
| The rooftop pool | Le Caïman has a rooftop pool and terrace — rare among Quebec City rentals. Our rooftop pool guide |
| Saint-Roch terraces | Rue Saint-Joseph: restaurants, microbreweries and specialty cafés in full season |
| Île d'Orléans harvest | ~20 minutes by car: berry picking, cider houses — and our house on the island if you prefer the countryside |
On the 11th floor with panoramic views over Quebec City, sleeps up to 6 (2 bedrooms + sofa bed), full kitchen, free indoor parking. ★ 4.79/5 (75 reviews). In August it's the most requested unit for its sunsets — see #1104.

The detail people forget in summer: the garage is free, but capped at 6 feet 6 inches (~1.98 m). A raised SUV, a camper van or a roof box will not clear it — worth checking before you leave, especially if you are driving in from far away in August.
What the neighbourhood actually feels like, from one half of the month to the next.
| Window | What happens in Quebec City and Saint-Roch |
|---|---|
| August 1 – 9 | The month opens loud: the New France Festival, August 6–9, fills Old Quebec with period costume — a 15-minute walk from Le Caïman, with no need to move the car. The rue Saint-Joseph terraces run at full tilt. |
| August 10 – 22 | The quiet trough of the city's summer. The Festival d'été has been over since July 19 and the New France Festival has passed: you walk everywhere without crowds, and Saint-Roch restaurants take a booking the day before rather than three weeks ahead. The rooftop pool earns its keep on the hot days. |
| August 23 – 31 | The city changes gear: school and university terms start in the final days of the month. Saint-Roch fills with students and people going to work, and the mood turns local rather than touristy — the best moment to see the neighbourhood as it really is. Twenty minutes away by car, Île d'Orléans enters full apple harvest. |
The calculation that matters in Quebec City in August: parking near Old Quebec is scarce and expensive, while here it is included. You park once on arrival and do the rest on foot — Old Quebec 15 minutes, rue Saint-Joseph at the foot of the building.
In Saint-Roch: central, delicious, and better value than inside the walls. Le Caïman adds a rooftop pool and free parking, 15 minutes on foot from Old Quebec.
The New France Festival (August 6-9), the terraces of rue Saint-Joseph, Old Quebec on foot, and Île d'Orléans in full harvest season 20 minutes away.

Yes: both condos sleep 6 each, in the same building (#405 on the 4th floor, #1104 on the 11th) — 12 in total, sharing the rooftop pool and the garage.
No. Indoor parking is free but capped at 6 ft 6 in (~1.98 m) of clearance: raised SUVs, camper vans and roof boxes will not fit.
